Thank you for visiting our website, and we hope that you will find it informative and helpful in learning about our group. We are the women of the GFWC Lawrence Classics Women's Club and we have been serving communities in Douglas County Kansas, for the past thirteen years. We serve our communities by donating our time, service and project proceeds to various charities, outreach services, schools, libraries, groups and individuals in our area. We also endeavor to make a positive difference in the lives of our members by offering leadership and growth opportunities while nurturing lifelong friendships. We hope that you will consider joining us, and help us to serve those in need in our area.

October Meeting:  "Putting Forth Our Club's Work for District Two's Benefit"

 Getting ready for the district convention on October 29th

Excitement and anticipation are growing as plans for our club to host the annual District Two convention draws near. The convention will be held this year on Saturday, October 29th, at the Lawrence Country Club. Convention planning committee members, Susan Andersen, Rita Brecheisen and Bekki Heckman have been hard at work with other members to organizing the annual meeting securing the speaker, decoration, refreshments and entertainment.

Susan Andersen, committee chair, focusing on the convention theme "Honoring Those Who Serve", was able to secure as our guest speaker, Mr. Glenn Hewitt, who is the Director of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. 

During our meeting on October 13th, we will be reviewing our plans, convention assignments and tying up any last minute details that need to be addressed before the convention begins.  See you there!

Congratulations to GFWC Classics member, Darby Lohrding, who recently became a team member at the new Natural Grocers store on W. 23rd St., which is scheduled to open in early November!
